- Incident Description: 1) An angle grinder tool purchased from a local hardware store caught fire during regular use. The tool began to malfunction, the owners manual was reviewed and found not to included information on potential any risk. Subsequently the tool was put back into use and it caught fire. A product review was submitted to the store web site. The store did not share the other persons that may purchase the tool.
2) The tool is a HERCULES, Model HE61S 7 Amp 4-1/2 In. Slide Switch Angle Grinder, SKU(s) No 56435, 120 Volt. It is a 4-1/2 in. grinding wheel, 4-1/2 in. Type 27 guard, side handle, arbor nut, and wrench. The tool was purchase new from Harbor Freight Store in Chula
Vista, CA.
3) I ,[REDACTED] was using the tool as intended.
4) The tool was being used with a cut off wheel disc, as it was designed to be used.
5) There were no injuries.
