Incident Details
- Incident Description: Mold growing in and around the outer portion of a Tommee Tippee pacifier, on numerous pacifiers. The company lists on its wensite as a suggestion to toss pacifiers afyer a month of use and on a pamphlet on the inside of the pacifiers but who would think to read this on pacifiers. With that said the design of these pacifiers and te way they trap water even before a month there is no guarantee it won't create mld even with the safest of cleaning. I contacted the company and they are taking zero responsibility for this design flaw. I tead a review on Target.com of someone who also had this problem. This is the only pacifier our baby will use and now I am highly concerned after finding mold on several pacifiers and after contacting the company getting zero answers for the design flaw. They seem to think because they suggest tossing the pacifiers after a month or at a sign of wear and tear its ok their pacifiers grow mold? What baby is putting that much wrar & tear on pacifier that you would say oh this needs to be tossed? Not my baby. I clean these religiously and air dry them and they still got mold, this is a huge problem.

Comments from the Manufacturer/Private Labeler
- Mayborn Baby and Child is a responsible manufacturer of baby products and, as you would expect, child safety is at the heart of everything we do. All products are therefore designed and tested to all applicable US and European safety standards.
Prior to launch we conducted both consumer and internal lab testing of our soother range to validate everything was in working order. The results indicated that, when used in line with instructions, there were no issues with performance. Furthermore, millions of our soothers have been sold around the world and that when used for the recommended time frame of one month (or less if damaged) and are cleaned in line with instructions, they work well.
The product instructions are an important source of advice for consumers. We urge all consumers to take the few minutes of time it takes to read and familiarise themselves with product instructions before first use. This is very important and a responsibility to ensure the safety, wellbeing and health of the child using the soother.
We are unable to reach out to this consumer who wished to remain anonymous but, if the consumer contacts our customer care team on the toll free number 1-877-248-6922 we can advise her further on design, cleaning and usage issues.
