Incident Details
  • Incident Description: I purchased the Bower bed from Room and Board for my daughter. It is 31 inches high, although from the floor to the base of the platform it is only 29.5 inches and thus does not fall under federal regulations for children's bunk beds. Nonetheless a guardrail is available for purchase. I purchased the guardrail and bed a little over a year ago. It has cracked on the two pieces that connect to the bed. The guardrail is very close to cracking completely and falling off the bed. I am concerned that it could injure one of my children should that happen. When I sent pictures of the cracks to the company, they responded, "The guardrails are not intended to have weight put upon them or to be used to climb with." It does not make sense to me that a guardrail for a child's bed cannot have weight put upon it.
