Report Summary

Male consumer has an electric range which has super sensitive knobs. If someone leans over the range, or is by the sink, the range knob will turn and activate the range. Consumer lost pans due to overheating. Consumer states this is a fire hazard.

  • Incident Description: I bought an electric range for my house and it has a very unsafe and hazardous front cook tops temperature control knobs; if anyone touchs and/ or leans against the range while on the kitchen or by the sink the knob turns on itself, the person then leaves the room but does not realize the range had been turned on. Anything on the cooktop will cook will get hot or catch in fire. If the person leaves the house without double checking on the cook top knobs he/she can put fire on the house inadvertently. This happens every time it anyone leans or touches the stove and it happened since i bought it and since it was brand new. The manufacturer or the seller will not do anything about it. This had happen several times throghout many years. Fortunatelly I had just lost pans or burned kitchen stuff because I always come back to check on the stove if it's on or off. The Sumsang electric range model in question can put fire in anybody's house in a matter of minutes.

  • If yes to any, explanation: no modifications have been done to the product. This is flaw on the prodict design that can put fire on the house. The Bestbuy store still sells similar or the same product and I don't thing they ever review their design.
