Samsung WA5471ABW/XAA Top Loading Washing Machine

Purchased a Samsung Top-Loading Washer (Model WA5471ABW/XAA) about 5 years ago. It is part of the Samsung Recall for the top part of the machine exploding while in use. While that is a problem, the bigger issue is with the level of mold inside the machine. When doing a load of laundry, thousands of black/brown flecks come out of the machine and onto the clothes.

Attempts to run cleaning cycles or use any washing machine cleaner are to no avail. This is mainly due to the design of the machine in which you only get a few inches of water for an empty load at the bottom of the washtub. There is no way to disassemble the tub to clean the mold out of the basin. This has been a problem off and on for several years now. It seems once run enough that the loosen mold comes through the holes of the tub it will go away for a few weeks until enough mold has reformed and then begin to show up in the laundry loads again.

Samsung's recall does not address the mold issue. There are countless pages of reports on the Samsung Community help message boards about this same issue over the past several years for these top-loading pieces of junk. Obviously the mold, mildew, detergent buildup, etc that is getting on clothes during a wash prevents them from ever being cleaned.

I contacted the manufacturer and they did not agree to service. They are only willing to handle the existing recall for lid explosions.
