This morning I put about 16oz of water and coffee into my Drip Coffee Maker, DCC-3650. A few minutes later I heard a couple pops, kind of like when there is water on the bottom of the carafe, but they seemed louder somehow. This attracted my attention which is when I noticed a burning odor. I went over to the coffee maker and noticed that it was smoking and that the hot plate was bright red. I had never seen the red ring of the hot plate before. I pulled the plug and ran outside with the unit. The coffee maker was smoking heavily by then but did not burst into flames. I have lots of photos I took of it if you want to see them. There really isn’t any outside damage. I also remember that there was a weird code on the display that I thought was an ERR or something like that.
