Comfort Zone pheromone diffuser for cats #100532987. Within 3 hours of plugging it in, we noticed a burning smell in our home and after searching for all of the obvious kitchen & bathroom suspects, I thought to look at the diffuser. The body of the diffuser was extremely hot requiring me to use a glove to remove it from the outlet. After 30 minutes of being unplugged, the smell dissipated. I am returning the diffuser to Amazon which, after reading the reviews post purchase, demonstrates that MANY other people have had the same issue. I emailed the company directly but after seeing the number of complaints on Amazon believe that it is a true safety hazard. I believe that if we hadn’t been home to unplug the diffuser, a fire was a real possibility.

Although some customers may experience some initial odor during the use of Comfort Zone Diffuser products, this is completely normal and does not pose either a health or a safety risk. The Comfort Zone diffuser may also feel warm or slightly hot to the touch, which is also a normal occurrence as heat is required to disperse pheromones into the air. All Comfort Zone Diffusers are UL tested for safety and are equipped with an added safety feature to prevent fires. The automatic shut off feature on all Comfort Zone Diffusers is an added safety measure providing an additional layer of protection for your pet, family and home.
