On Wednesday, May 15, a Dell XPS 15 9560 laptop caused a fire in a University building. The fire inspector determined that the fire started with the laptop, near the battery. This model was covered by Dells extended warranty battery program, but the owner did not know about the program and did not know that this laptop may be susceptible to battery swelling.

The fire destroyed the laptop, desk, walls, cabinets and monitors. This fire has been reported to Dell but I though you should know as well.
