My landlord purchased a basic gas range for my home. When using the stove the first time, I turned the knob to light it. After a few seconds I realized that the knobs were not made like every other stove I have used - meaning the ignition is usually immediately next to the off position. This one is opposite. All 4 burners have the ignition at 180 degrees from the off position. Getting to that point releases gas (between off and lighting). If a child turns the knob (or someone accidentally does) gas will fill the room quickly before anyone realizes it. Clicking sound of the lighter does not occur until the 180 degree point. I am shocked that this range is legally on the market.

The range works and was not damaged. I am waiting for Landlord to decide to exchange it. But it is a hazard to all and should be recalled.
