Two Leggett & Platt Adjustable Base (Queen) purchased and installed in our residential home in 2015 and 2018. Both my husband and I have been suffering from symptoms that made us feel ill, after purchasing these pieces of furniture: extreme fatigue, headaches, eye problems, leg cramps, balance problems, heart problems, and severe sleeping problems.

We decided to unplug the adjustable bases fearing they were both producing radiation. We measured the radiation produced by both adjustable bases and determined that they are producing between 2000-9000 times the allowable amount of radiation for a household product coming in contact with our skin, organs, chest, head and legs.

We carefully recorded each reading taken from immediately above our 13.5 inch thick mattresses with the adjustable bases plugged in. Readings were between 1000-2000 miligaus using a DT-1130 Meter. We notified the Manufacturer this morning at [REDACTED} [REDACTED] was supposed to call us back and never did. Message left with [REDACTED] -Adjustable Care Center Receptionist.

Please take immediate action to review the EMF hazards we are reporting. Hundreds of thousands of U.S. Citizens have these in their homes. We consider this to be a life threatening issue. My husband and I were so sick this past two months we prepared to die, making preparations for our impending deaths. We have digital photos of our EMF readings and a collective series of photos showing the readings spread across the top of each adjustable base.

Comment from Leggett & Platt, Incorporated 11/13/2018
Leggett & Platt’s commitment to product safety and quality is of the utmost importance to us. We ensure that our products comply with, or exceed, all applicable government requirements. We were surprised to learn of the [REDACTED]s’ allegations. Out of an abundance of caution, we have investigated their statements. Following investigation, we discovered that the [REDACTED]s misinterpreted the results of their EMF reader and severely overstated the measurements as a result. Specifically, the DT-1130 Meter used by the [REDACTED]s appears to provide measurements in Micro Gauss rather than milliGauss as alleged by the [REDACTED]s. This means the EMF levels reported by the consumer equates to 1.0 to 2.0 milliGauss rather than the 1,000 to 2,000 milliGauss contained in their report. These levels are consistent with typical household appliances, like alarm clocks and baby monitors. Our internal testing confirmed these readings. The consumer is being notified of our findings, and we now consider this matter closed. We appreciate the [REDACTED]s bringing their concerns to our attention so that we have the opportunity to respond.
