Hi,

I am the owner of a new Heatolator Cab50 wood pellet stove. When this issue occurred, I had only burned two bags of pellets in the stove since it was installed.

To summarize the issue. I walked into my house to find the smoke alarm going off and the house smelling of smoke. I immediately went to where the pellet stove was located and could see that there was an issue with the stove. What I found was the electric igniter that is used to ignite the wood pellets was stuck on. There were no pellets in the fire pot and the thermostat was not calling for heat.

Because the igniter was stuck on for apparently a long time all the metal in the stove was glowing red hot causing the stove to overheat and fill the room with smoke.

I tried to shut down the stove down but was not able to, apparently the safety features built into the stove had failed preventing me from shutting down the stove. I was forced to unplug the stove to stop it from burning. After a few minutes I plugged it in again and the same issues occurred.

There is clearly a failure in the safety mechanism in this product and I was just fortunate enough to have come home in time before I had a major fire in my house. I strongly believe the manufacture should recall these stoves and correct this safety issue before more issues like this occur.

Thank you,
