Last week I was using the hair dryer to dry my hair and it was periodically cutting off. This happened for a couple of times; the third day I was using the dryer and I saw sparks. I immediately turned the dryer off and unplugged it. Upon looking at the dryer very closely, I realized that part of the wires on the cord were exposed by the very bottom of the dryer.
