On August 12, 2017 at approximately 12:30 pm, I went to my storage building to pick up my 2014 Polaris Ranger 570 Crew, which I was going to use to haul my boat cover and other items from the beach at my lake cabin in [REDACTED]. I started and briefly warmed up the Ranger, and backed it out of the storage building. I then drove my car into the storage building and closed the overhead door. The Ranger was idling for a total of about 2 minutes. The only thing in the rear box or bed of the Ranger was a boat cover that was inside of a plastic tote, and some hand tools. There were no explosives or gas cans in the Ranger or its box/bed. I then drove the Ranger about 2 1/2 miles from my storage building to my lake cabin. I parked the Ranger in my driveway and shut off the ignition. About 10 minutes later, I heard 2 explosions. About this same time, my wife and next door neighbor yelled for me to come and help them. When I ran to my driveway, I observed that the Ranger was fully engulfed in flames. Debris from the Ranger was all over the yard, including a tailgate latch that was thrown 75 feet from the Ranger. The flames destroyed surrounding property, including a large tree, landscaping, and the concrete driveway underneath. My wife's car sustained thermal damage. No persons were injured. Two rural fire departments and the [REDACTED] responded. I have extensive photos and videos of the incident, but this Website appears not to be Mac compatible for uploading. The Ranger's fuel tank was approximately 3/4 full. I filled the tank approximately 2 weeks prior. I noticed nothing unusual about the Ranger prior to parking it in my driveway. There were no gas odors, and the engine ran normally. I did not notice any warning lights on the dash.
