(04/13/2106) The consumer stated that his wife heard a loud explosion that came from near her granddaughters room. She went to investigate and saw that the lighter had exploded and pieces were scattered throughout the room. The lighter was located on a desk. It was not exposed to light or heat. No one was in the room when the lighter exploded.

No injuries.

The consumer added he attached 3 digital photos (poor quality) of the lighter, and lighter pieces and a candle that was broken by the lighter after it exploded. The consumer also added all evidence have been retained and are available at [CPSC's] request.
