Comment from Hamilton Beach Brands, Inc. 10/9/2015
We have taken this report and expression of dissatisfaction very seriously. We are very sorry this customer had a negative experience with one of our products, as we try hard to please consumers who have shown their trust by bringing our products into their homes. We encourage our customers to contact us at 1.800.851.8900 in order to provide information about their experiences. This consumer has contacted us, and the product has been examined. No evidence of electrical activity or exposed conductors, were observed to indicate a potential for shock. The plug blades were deeply grooved by the receptacle. X-ray images showed that the neutral conductor was broken in the power cord just ahead of the strain relief of the wall plug. The insulation of the power cord was not compromised. The broken conductor supports the statement by the consumer that “…the iron never stays on.” Typically this type of break occurs from repeatedly pulling on the cord instead of the plug body when removing the plug from the receptacle.
