I was preheating the top oven of my dual gas oven - the lower oven was already cooking just fine. As the upper oven was preheating I smelled and noticed smoke. When I opened the oven door a huge flame (jumping out from the oven at least 10 to 12 inches and the width of the door) erupted and singed my forehead and eyebrows. After running cold water on my head and face, I shut the oven off and called the manufacturer to file a complaint. They indicated all that they could do was send a service technician to check it out. The technician came and could not find the source of the flame out. I am afraid to use the oven again and will be getting rid of it as soon as possible.

Contacted Sears holdings immediately after the incident - all they would do is send a service technician who couldn't find the problem. They offered a second service appointment but could not explain why they would do so and I declined.
