Consumer stated that the toilet paper she has been using has caused her to receive burns to her front side and backside area, she feels that all brands of these toilet paper contains toxic chemical [REDACTED]. She stated that her body area burns all the time wherever the paper touches.

Consumer has seen a medical physician but it was determined that the symptoms was caused by the toilet paper.

12/2011 Consumer stated that she has contacted the manufacturer who advised that they would report it. She stated that she is unable to find any toilet paper that is toxic free.

Consumer is concerned that these toxic toilet paper should be removed from the market.

Consumer feels that these products are a health hazard and should be reported.Consumer says the product was changed about a year ago.This product should be taken off the market and old formulas that they used should be reinstated. This is like recycling toxic soup of various chemicals from various producs all put together. Also formaldehyde in any product is very toxic and so is any recycling product. Formeldehyde should not be used in any personal product.

Thank you for bringing this report about SCOTT® bathroom tissue to our attention. We are sorry for any distress this consumer experienced. Because the safety of our product is our number one priority, we have rigorous quality control practices in place when manufacturing SCOTT® bath tissue.

Any concerns regarding the safety of Kimberly-Clark products are taken very seriously and investigated by an interdisciplinary team including safety and quality representatives. When possible, and at the consent of the consumer involved, product samples are requested for review to determine if there are any steps that we can take to prevent a recurrence. Where product information is provided that allows the specific machine to be identified, quality systems information for the lot are reviewed. When detailed product information is unavailable, investigations are focused on the expected equipment and processes where the reported products were made.

When this report was shared with us, we reviewed the contacts from this consumer dating back to 2001. At the time of the alleged incident, the consumer did not contact us to report this situation and therefore neither samples nor specific information about the lot of product were available for investigation. A thorough safety review has been conducted on the product and its constituents, and the product is safe for its intended use. Reports of this specific nature are extremely rare.
