While cooking bread in the oven with tthe temp. of 350 degrees, My oven door exploded. I heard a loud pop and glass shot out and shattered everywhere. I looked on the computer and noticed that this was a common problem with the Sears ranges. I called the local Sears and the manager told me I needed to call the Customer Solutions. I called them and they told me that there was no recall on the product so they could do nothing for me. I purchased the range September of 2010. The warranty just ran out about 3 weeks ago. I did not purchase a warranty because I believed in their product. I purchased this range to replace one that I had for 13 years. and we were changing the kitchen to stainless appliances. My old Kenmore range worked perfect when I sold it last year. Sears said it was not their problem. I am thankful that my children were not in the kitchen when this happened. Sears needs to recall this oven.
On their website (Sears) under the same range (model #)someone posted the same problem (exploding glass) on June 26, 2011.
This is a problem that needs to be addressed and I should NOT have to pay to fix the door. This is a hazard and should be recalled. This range is defected. I am concerned that when the glass is replaced this will happen again. Customer Relations told me that they could do nothing about the problem even if it happened again and YES he thought it needed to be recalled too.
