On March 22, 2011 I went to Footlocker to purchase a new pair of shoes. I was looking for good walking shoes as I am on my feet all day at work and do a lot of walking. They recommended Reebok Easytone athletic shoes. I tried them on and they felt comfortable on the bottom of my feet. I purchased these shoes and went home. I read the information supplied in the booklet they included in the box which explained that the toning part was an "instability cushion" located in the bottom of the shoes that would tone portions of the calf, upper thigh, and buttocks muscles. I wore the shoes at work on 3/23 and 3/24. At the end of my shift on 3/24 I noticed a lot of pain and swelling in the inside of my left ankle. I did not wear the shoes again. On 3/25 I could not put any weight on my left ankle and notified my doctor. During my visit we xrayed my foot and nothing was broken. I showed him the shoes I had worn and he stated that due to the constant instability caused by the "instability cushion" I had aggravated the tendon and possibly tore ligaments in my ankle. I was given inflammatory medication and my ankle is wrapped in an ace bandage. I am unable to work until this heals which I am told could take up to 4-6 weeks.

I feel that these Reebok Easytone shoes are unsafe for consumers and should not be sold. The "instability cushion" causes harm to the ankle just by walking in the shoes. There is no mention in the booklet included with the shoes about the stress placed on the ankle.
