Cleaning OXO "mandalin" morning after actual use. Involves removing various "blades" after
opening "fan" or accordian fold mechanism.

while attempting to dislodge the stored blade, the force I exerted caused a sudden release of the stored blade causing my right hand to brush along the top of the blade area, causing severe
cut on top of right hand, requiring 14 stitches, tetanus shot and error by hospital who
gave me a flu shot "accidently" in error. I had open heart surgery October 28, 2010 replacing two valveS and the "accidental" flu shot and extreme loss of blood and injury was particulary harmful.

I have tried emailing the company on several occasions but the email adreses block

Helen of Troy acknowledges receipt of the submission of an incident relating to an OXO brand “V-Blade Mandoline” slicer. There was no prior notice of this incident and the claimant has been unwilling to send photographs or allow us to examine the product in question in order to conduct an investigation. Further, we are unable to replicate the incident based upon the description in the claimant’s submission. This product’s Use & Care materials advise consumers to use care with the blades, stating in pertinent part the following:

The OXO GOOD GRIPS V-Blade Mandoline Slicer blades are very sharp. Handle them with
care when using the Mandoline and when cleaning the components. Always use the Food
Holder to prevent injury. Do not leave the OXO V-Blade Mandoline Slicer or any components
within reach of children.
